Join the Little Folkies Teacher Community!

Little Folkies partners with musicians and music educators to bring joyful, all-acoustic music classes to children ages 0–5 and their caregivers. Our classes introduce young children to traditional folk songs, movement, rhythm, and instrument play in a warm, interactive environment that encourages connection through music.

If you’re a musician who loves working with young children and families, there are two ways to get involved. Whether you're interested in building your own Little Folkies program in your community or teaching occasional classes, we offer flexible opportunities to share music and connect with families.

Online Teacher Certification Course

Teacher trainees will receive a link to the online Teacher Certification Course which includes teacher training videos and the online song workshop with videos and assignments. You will need to complete both the certification course and the song workshop before the live certification meeting. If you have not finished the video course you will need to reschedule for the next month.

Live Certification Workshop

We do a live teacher certification workshop 2nd Sunday of every month. Teacher trainees will receive a certificate upon completion of the Live Teacher Certification Workshop. The workshop will be the final exam for the course. Trainees will answer questions and teach the songs from the collection.

The live workshop will be lead by a certified Little Folkies teacher trainer and will be divided in two parts. First half will be the teacher Certification where we will go over the ins and outs of teaching a class, the lesson plan format, teaching tips and tricks, keeping the class engaged, learning about the age groups and developmental stages of early childhood. The second will be the song workshop where we will go over the songs in the upcoming session and teachers will take turns singing and teaching the songs in the session. By the end of the 4 hour workshop all teachers should feel comfortable to start teaching the upcoming session.
