Irena is the creator and co-founder of Little Folkies, an award-winning early childhood folk music program that has been bringing live music, movement, and storytelling to young children and their families since 2009. A singer-songwriter and educator, Irena has written dozens of original children's songs while thoughtfully adapting traditional folk music to inspire creativity, confidence, and connection through music.

In 2026, Little Folkies released its four-volume collection, Songs for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, through Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Today, Irena shares Little Folkies through concerts, classes, and community events, creating joyful, interactive musical experiences that foster a lifelong love of music for children and their caregivers.
